Widenius’ flamenco guitar playing is already widely known. Whether it’s a solo concert, band gigs, accompaniment tasks, studio musician tasks or many others. He is also known for the Joonas Widenius Trio he leads, which combines jazz and world music.

Widenius was awarded the cultural prize of his hometown Tornio in 2019. His active solo repertoire includes a lot of flamenco tradition, as well as his own compositions from different eras with global nuances, without forgetting the Nordic melodiousness.

Widenius’ skills also surprised flamenco guitar virtuoso Paco de Lucia’s tour manager, who was excited to write about him with the words: I am very surprised to hear such an Authentic Flamenco feeling from the north of Europe. Joonas Widenius really has a Spanish heart!

As a soloist, he has performed widely, either solo or with his trio, at various festivals, clubs (e.g. Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Scotland, Estonia, Russia) and concert halls. Widenius has composed and arranged music for numerous different projects.
